Roots, Resilience, & Renewal - Week 37

In this OUT OF CYCLE issue:

  • COVID Update

  • FCCPS COVID by the Numbers

Dear FCCPS Families,

At today’s weekly call between FCCPS and the Fairfax County Health Department (our health district partner), they confirmed that we are in a rapid growth phase of COVID. This week FCCPS had the highest number of positive cases in a single day, and the spike in our system is troubling. The Health Department thinks that we are two weeks away from the peak of this wave, and between now and then we will see more cases. I suspect this is as frustrating for you as families as it is for the schools. We’ve all had experiences that remind us of pre-COVID times and it is blissful - HTG Games, Prom, Celebration of Excellence, etc.

A request for families: Please keep students home when they are sick and consider taking all mitigation measures available. This includes remaining home until symptoms have resolved. As a school, we will continue to offer testing, deep clean, disinfect, and provide opportunities for students to spread out. The “good news” is that the Health Department is characterizing this variant as mild (with some exceptions, of course) and impacting children more than adults. While it is more infectious, hospitalizations are very rare.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we continue to fight this variant.

Have a great weekend!
